A man makes a decision, right or wrong stand by it. 

This isn't ancient wisdom; this is in part with honor and courage. Majority of life's choices, you will not know the exact outcome. 

All a man can do is weigh the options with the current knowledge at his disposal and make a choice. Take a pause, not a break, then decide and execute. 

In tactical terms, they call this a "tactical pause," a quick assessment of the situations, then a hasty plan, then we execute. 

The pause is for your mind to base the hasty strategy on reason and logic, not an emotional response. To not sprint to your death. Real simple stuff.
