The Weight of Choice

The Weight of Choice

All a man can do is make the best choice with the information he understands.

Knowing the weight of both decision and indecision can put a vise-like pressure from both directions, provoking a choice between one path or another, this or that, life or death, good or evil.

Alright, let’s calm down, these are extremes, I know.

However, when we are in the midst of making a choice that may alter the course of life for you and those around you, it does not make the choices between, say, left or right, an old way or a new path, seem light.

It weighs heavily, granted, we also choose what choices we value more over others, giving them more “weight” than others as well. This is where that expression comes to mind, “Dammed if you do, dammed if you don’t.” We think of this when the decisions are both shit outcomes. Regardless, a man must, at the very least, move forward.

“Shit or get off pot.” It’s not rocket science; the ripple effect of any choice is rarely fully understood until the end. Ultimately, he may realize that those choices were the tipping points that altered his very perception of reality and whether he chooses to believe that the world is a good place or a bad one.

We are trying to figure out, through our choices, how we can influence ourselves to do good, and in turn, things will be good.

It’s not always that clear, but we must make a choice regardless.

Nothing was solved here today, but maybe it made you think.
