Begin With Yourself

You desire to be harsh and strict with others, but first begin with yourself.

Aurelius Kadzius

We easily fall into the trap of judgment and hindsight after a friend, a mentor, or a family member makes a choice we cannot understand or disagree with.

We quickly cast labels and pointed out the “obvious” mistakes while standing on our moral high ground, untouched by such foolishness.
It is easier to dissect why others fall short or have not done so well in one way or another. At the same time, we are slow to reflect on our shortcomings.

Reflection is unpleasant; a deep look into your soul reveals that you have been a villain before, and maybe you still are. Making others pay for a pain they did not cause is a villain-like behavior of a man.

Focus on your path and keep your stride strong to move forward. Keep the wagging tongues of gossip and mistakes of others to those that made them; help if it is in your power to do so, and waste little time yapping about.

Forgive quickly if you can, and if you can’t, try; forgiving does not mean forgetting. Be strict with yourself when you have a high standard of being a man.

You will make other men uncomfortable or want to raise their standards as well. It will start with the individual man first. It will begin with you, and I.
