The Newness of Change

You’re uncomfortable because it’s new, and you’re not good at it.
That’s called change.

Aurelius Kadzius

You’re being new once again, but it has been a long time since you walked into a new field of work, something new to study, or a new commitment, a new way to see what is holding you back and what is pushing you forward.

Don’t worry so much about what is new and uncomfortable. In time, the newness of the work or thing or love will pass, and you will remember how you needlessly created more suffering in your mind than what you were actually living through.

That you won’t be perfect, that you will fumble it up, you won’t say the right words, you will not do the right thing at the right time, and you won’t be doing it the right way, because, like most things, when they are new. You are exploring where the areas are that lead to significant and minor mistakes.

You are at the beginning, where you only discover the little details that save you as you move through the actual doing of the new tasks, new work, the new path, the new art, the new plan, the new life.

Allow yourself to be shitty at something, knowing you will get better at it with effort and time.

Learning is listening, applying, exploring, and failing.

The journey continues.
