Men With No More Desires
Men with no more desires already have one foot in the coffin.
Aurelius Kadzius
No reason to wake, not hungry, not thirsty,
no want of a woman, no drive to create.
It would be like trying to describe nothing, and nothing cannot be described because to add words to it, it would become something.
The absence of energy, without life, the purest way to describe it would be to write, a void, abyss, neither sound nor silence, no mass or space. To desire little is good; most men don't need much to wake, rinse, and repeat the grind of the days that move so quickly.
Needing little is not the same as desiring nothing.
The pain in this realization is that what satisfies the soul is traded for what pleases the body. It would be best if you felt something. Most things men desire are due to necessity, utility, and sometimes to feel useful as the earth keeps turning.
The only time I would say it is important to "feel" alive, the sense of it, the cold, the heat, sweat, and burning in your lungs, pressing into the dirt with your hands feeling the stop moving and giving way to the heal of your palm.
Feeling alive is not necessarily caused by excellent highs or happy events. More often in this life, from my perspective, I have felt alive when I am in great pain. It is up for debate.
You can sense the pause between the seconds as they change from one to two to three. An awakened sense of gravity, the weight of it, its pressure, its subtle pull to the ground.
As you stare at the horizon over an ocean, you can sense the wind change directions without hesitation. The body is awakened by the hurt the soul is in. Every sense the mind can detect has been ignited. Trying to make sense of a pain in cannot see, the mind is firing on all cylinders to understand.
Wake up and see what it is you desire. At the very least, have a reason to leave your room, to leave your loneliness behind for at least an hour. Let that part stay, and you get lost in the work. Get lost in the doing and learning. Get lost in the living.
