Stay Ready for What You Ask For

When you ask for something, be prepared in case you receive it.

Aurelius Kadzius

A friend of mine says this often, "Stay Ready." He says it so often that it is ingrained in my head. Repetition alone is not the only reason. It is the times that he chooses to say it. It is after we have spoken of a particular course of action for business, life, or faith.

Men will ask themselves if they can push through, endure, and change their path. If we are not ready to face the truth of these answers, how will we ever be able to receive them? How will we endure the work it will take to pursue something that may or may not work out as we want?

"Staying ready" is to know that what we want will not fall into our lap precisely as we want or how we want. When it does come, if you are not ready, you won't know how to accept it, and you may not even realize it has arrived or that you arrived to receive it. The times I had squandered an opportunity or was late to identify one is more than a handful.

Many of us would not be surprised if we were missing some right now. The lack of awareness of our options to move in various directions correlates with our lack of faith that they will be fruitful.

Asking for the endurance to push through the chaos to create a change within ourselves is no small mission. Many men ask for things, opportunities, different options in work, "better options." A chance to take a different path is excellent, or is it? Only time will tell; asking for what you desire may not hurt, but it will take courage. Taking action to move in the direction of what you want will take both courage and endurance.
